Home made Peanut Butter Ice Cream

One of the coolest things my wife and I have done since we have been married is to establish little traditions. No, not like re-doing new year's resolutions but just habits that we have fallen in to when we come upon the same situation. One such habit is giving an ICE CREAM MAKER to friends who are getting married. An ice cream maker is one of those things that is fun to have, but you probably wouldn't really buy for yourself and we have never yet seen two ice cream makers as gifts at weddings, so it is something very unique that the couple will always remember you by.

This weekend our son was away all weekend so we decided to have a special time with our daughter and make Peanut Butter Ice Cream. It was just about the best ice cream I have ever had. The secret to homemade ice cream to me is using a custard based recipe. Custard based recipes give the ice cream the kind of creamy texture that you get with store bought ice cream but the flavor is much better!

Day 2

No, I absolutely do not intend to post every day, after all, I am sure I will run out of things to say eventually. However, I do want to keep posting just to see what happens because I may never run out of things to say. Just ask my friends.

My very first

Okay I admit it. Julie and Julia inspired me. I am sure I am not the only one who needed a little push to join the blogosphere and Julie and Julia is what did it. It helps that I also love to cook and am secretly hoping that one day this meager blog will also lead to fame and fortune. If not, then I will at least have finally done something that I have been thinking about for a long time--writing. Maybe you have been contemplating doing something for a long time. Let me just say--Go ahead. Once you start I think you will have as much fun as I am having.
